A Great Egret displays his dexterity in limb walking, spreading his wings like an acrobat for balance. This is from the rookery at Audubon Park in New Orleans -- just off St. Charles Street. The park was, of course, named after famed naturalist, John Jay Audubon, who lived in New Orleans in the early 1820's.-- steve buser
It's the first time I've seen a Great Egret in a tree!

Your egret photos are great. I posted a photo of a snowy egret not long ago on my Daily Photo site for Costa Rica, but it is difficult to get the action shots that you have posted. Photos of egrets and herons stalking their prey along a river bank are a lot easier to get than birds in flight, of course.

ReplyDeleteDid Audubon also live in Memphis? There's a big Audubon park there as well. Although, maybe his credentials just make his name popular for parks.
