Every bird knows -- kids means treats...

The gulls were lining up for bombing runs at the water when the crowds were gathered for the annual dog parade in Mandeville, La.  They recieved some notice from the crowd sitting on the lakefront wall.  But most of the crowd was focused on mingling and dog gawking.

Heading out from Mandeville's harbor on a cool morning with the steam rising from the lake-mixed bayou water as the sun's warm rays glance of the cool water.

We all stand on the shoulders of others...

When you're at a parade (especially the dog parade in Mandeville, La.) you'll do whatever it takes to see that cute canine that is passing by.  Hey, look at me!  Look at me!

Its a parade of paws on grassy green Mandeville lakefront

Parading perfectly  down the Mandeville lakefront not only shows off the dogs of the northshore city, but also shows of the grace, elegance and leisure-loaded highlight of the city.  The annual parade was a couple weeks ago

It's mom time now -- egret

Mom egret gets a few minutes for personal grooming while the chick is satisfied and not hungry for the moment.
You can just barely see the chick through the branches to the right of mom.  They get to spend a lot of
time together in these younger days.  This is old shot form a couple years ago in Audubon Park.
