Summer floating

Oh, those lazy, cloud floating days of summer. These clouds were just drifting aimlessly -- no lift in their spirit and just a listless wind to push them around. I guess to a cloud this is like floating on one of those pool rafts. No deadlines. no where you have to be.

Ah, summer.

White lightning

Hey, it's all fake, but fun. I was just playing around with Photoshop following some tutorials. The sky started out as a real cloud shot, but the white lightning is pure fantasy.

That magic moment

One morning at the lakefront, a blue heron soared by adding magic to the moment.

Climber of clouds

Who knows what thoughts flee through the mind of a daring, maybe rash, climber of clouds?
Who knows what heights his fantasies favor?

Though you may once have known, you can never know again. Earth-bound one, you can only watch and wonder.

Clouds clowning around

I think every once in a while God gets in the flow and forgets about the rest of creation for a few minutes. How else would you explain clouds at play in a sunset?

City-lights-soaked clouds

Come in to the city across Lake Pontchartrain on a muggy cloudy night and you will catch a scene such as this. The clouds soak with city light leaking skyward and the buildings at the edge of the Causeway with their hundreds of eyes still gleaming.

Smoke gets in your sky.

Sometimes its the rusty reds and burnt oranges that make a sunset jump out at you. Other times is more subtle smoky tones such as this sunset shot on Citrus Lane in the River Ridge area of Jefferson Parish (New Orleans' neighbor).

Out of the fog

Cleaning up my picture files and straightening out the files. I am finding several shots like this foggy day on the riverfront in the French Quarter -- shots I never got around to using.   I can't explain it.  It's just hard to keep things in order when you are posting at a rate of a picture a day -- that includes shooting, processing, filing and all.

But, I keep it up.  It keeps me focused and observant.  Observant of all the things that go on around me that I never really noticed before.

The sky's a busy street.

You know those days when the clouds seem to be fighting each other. Some riding giant thermals. Other being pushed around by fronts and winds that seem all a kilter. Some how, though, like a busy street -- maybe like in Times Square --every body seems to get where they want to go. This was how it was on Veterans Boulevard a while back when I took this picture.

Hope you enjoy this SkyWatch Friday photo. Go to the SkyWatch Friday site to enjoy 100's more.
