Gator waiter

When we took a road to the lakefront in Mandeville.  But it was gated into some condominiums.  While turning around, we spotted this friendly guy, waiting patiently in a pond for a good meal to come by.  The alligator appeared to be about 4 feet long.

This is the one thing about living in the deep South that would just flip me out. Alligators by the bike path, alligators in the park, alligators in your back yard! Of course I've seen them in Louisiana and Florida but they make me feel like I'm walking around wearing a big Bite Me sign.

It's amazing how they can appear to be a fallen tree in the water. Camoflage effect...
Bob Crowe's "bite me sign" -- too funny!
