A great loss

My youngest brother, Ted, 53, passed away suddenly last week. He is in the middle of the photo. I am on the left and my brother, Gary, is on the right. The photo is from Mardi Gras a couple years ago.

It was a hard blow to the family. Besides Ted's wife, Robin, and kids, the loss was probably hardest for Gary, because he and Ted were not just brothers, but best of friends, doing everything together.

Ted was a man that anyone would be proud to call brother, father or husband. His wife, Robin, and their daughter, Emily, and son, Chris, lost a great father and husband.

This is the first shot we can find of Ted -- from left to right (and going up in age) in the back row are Gary, Hank, Karen, Steve (me) and Sue. Ted is in my lap in the picture. The seventh of the pack, Judi, had not yet been born.

We all miss him deeply.

How special that the friendships we make on this blog bring us all together at good times and the times that we need each other the very most. Steve, I don't have the words to help you now but you are certainly in my prayers. God bless you and your family. Your precious brother is in a better place. Thank you for sharing him with us.

So sorry to hear of your news. The loss of a sibling must surely be one of the most difficult to bear. As we all approach that time of life when we will begin to lose our closest lifelong companions and confidants, may we all keep those memories of our childhood together close to our hearts. Your brother sounds like a wonderful person, and the world was surely a greater place to live with him in it.

PS: I'm just filling in the word verification and it is "billytho". My big brother's name is Billy (well, Bill in our adult lives :-) ) and he passed away three years ago last week. . .what are the odds of that word verification coming up? -K.

Steve, blessings and peace to you and all your family. Thanks for sharing these touching old family photos. (His sweet little feet!) The heartache of loosing someone we love is directly related to the joy of knowing, loving, and having them in our life. May He who calls us His brethren, comfort you all.

It was gracious of you to post your brother's picture taken during a happy time y'all shared at Mardi Gras. Just seeing his smile hopefully will give you some comfort and help ease your sorrow.
