I read in in an Audubon Zoo twitter that dragonflies only live 24 hours. Talk about live for today!

Oh my goodness, what a shot! What a shot! How utterly superb. So beautiful, magical, perfect. Well I sure hope they don't only live a day. I don't think so. One place I lived we used to have a stick near a pool and the same dragonfly would perch on it every day all summer.
Great photo
I have a friend with dragonflies on her pond, but they did not stop still enough for me.
That is an excellent shot.
Growing up along the river in the delta just south of Memphis, people called them "Snake Doctors". The only reason I can figure is how the Dragonfly will ride on the head of a water moccasin and that is how you know the shake is there. The do sit on top of the shake, waiting for mosquitoes. They eat almost 40 times their weight in mosquitoes which makes them my hero!
They are considered highly auspicious good luck omens in many cultures.
They are my favorite flying thing next to Pelicans and Rocket Ships.
Thanks youz
Awww ... that's so sad, Steve. I'm glad you captured that one with your camera for posterity.
Wonderful shot! And very interesting (and disturbing) that they only live for a day.
But this one lives forever on your blog. Incredible capture!
