Luck of the Irish

This has to be the grand prize of any St. Patrick's Day Parade. One of the marching Irish apparently just couldn't hold up his stick of flowers any more and handed it over to my niece Paige. My wife, Linda (left), revels in the good fortune. The New Orleans tradition, the Irish Channel St. Patrick's Day parade rolled down St. Charles Avenue yesterday. The temperatures were in the high 80's -- a perfect Louisiana day for catching beads, trinkets and cabbage.

Oh, that's a cool grab!

We watched a few of the men who handed out flowers make their way back through our neighborhood. Either from drink or sun exposure or both, they were done!

We had a lovely time. I made bubble and squeak with what we caught.

The looks and smiles on their faces are compelling and drew me in from the portal. Nice photograph.

Darn that Mame! I missed the St Paddy's Day parade here because I had to save all my energy for the singing and dancing. :(

Great pic and looks like a really festive time. I used to live in Chicago and St. Patty's day was quite the fun time. Green beer in the taverns, a great parade, they even dyed the Chicago river green.
