This old Live Oak tree in City Park in New Orleans lays out its wrinkles and age spots -- it's a form of character that seems to invite young kids to climb on. I'm supposing that it is over 100 years old.-- meaning it has seen a lot of the history of New Orleans pass in front of it. Probably most of the leaders in this community climbed on it as children or on one of its neighbors.--steve buser

I never seen a such masses from a very old oak tree like this...Now if only this tree could talk so we can understand all of the old stories it can tell us.
What a great tree. Like an old house - even older probably, it's seen a ton of history.
Is the soil so hard the roots can't go deeper and have to spread around the trunk ?

Deslilas -- That just how Live Oaks grow, they have a large but shallow root system.
