Name that flower

What kind of flower is this. I don't know. Maybe someone can leave a comment to help us all. The flower was at the -- the Barataria Preserve of the Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve that we visited this past weekend. The preserve is south of New Orleans.

It doesn't even look like a flower...more like a scrub brush.

I'm kidding....it's lovely, but I don't have a clue.

I don't have a clue either. But I guess it must be a plant from Louisiana that does not grow in France! I am curious. I hope somebody will find what it is.

I have no idea what kind of flower parts these are or what kind of flower it is. Makes a nice photo.

I won't even try. I think it looks like it might crawl away at a moment's notice! It is very unusual!

You don't have enough information in your picture. It's like taking a picture of an elephant and only showing the tail. When a plant isn't common you need more information. Is it a tree (my first thought)? Is it a shrub, a perennial, an annul? What about the fruit or seed? One petal of a pansy would tell most people enough to identify the flower. Knowing were to look for information is also very helpful.

Love the colours and the details - no idea what flower though. None that I have seen in Cape Town or the UK.

Very nice photo, Steve. I would like to know what it is, too.
