Tucked Duck

Another scratchy duck. Apparently ducks spend a lot of time grooming and going after crawling critters they have picked up. I thought the ripples added a nice effect to this picture.

Stunning silhouette. This looks amazing in the portal. The blue is just beautiful, so crisp and clear.he ripples add that final touch. I am really enjoying your bird photography,it's superb.

I like the effect, too. I just read something today about certain kinds of ducks/water birds. Apparently, some have an oily gland, and when they groom themselves, they are coating their feathers with oil to help keep them warm in cold water. Amazing, no?

The oil keeps the feathers dry, other wise they might drown. The cormorant and the anhinga are water birds that lack the oil. That's why they stand around with there wings wide open trying to dry off.

Three gold stars for this one. I love the curves and ripples. Good stuff.
