Memories of two lost children

I was just thinking that last year about this time, we were watching a Mourning Dove raise her babies outside our window. We watch them first poke their heads out from under her and then came home one day to find that one of them was gone. A few days later, the other went missing. Momma dove was sitting on the fence near the nest still look for her babies. The dad was perched up on the garage watching her and wishing he could make things right again.

Such a sad story. I do know that after observing birds they do grieve for there young. MB

Oh yes, I remember this Steve. So sad and such a beautiful photograph. That story really stayed with me.

I had an Old English Sheepdog bitch whose milk was poisoning her new-born puppies and slowly they died off, one by one, eventually I had to take those remaining off her and rear them by hand.I only saved one. I've never forgotten her eyes - she was so sad.

Our doves are still "nesting" awaiting the "arrival"

That's a touching and sad story. I love hearing the cry of mourning doves; it has a quality of hearing a train whistle off in the distance at night.

Nature is so full of sad stories and wonderful stories... Much like our own lives, yes?

Very heart breaking. I can't imagine how it feels going home and then realizing your babies are gone.

The photographs are really great... they are really alive and been shoot perfectly.
