Check it out.

This was the grocery store at the New Orleans Children's Museum where we spent Saturday. The kids enjoyed picking food off the shelf (empty but real containers) and bringing it up to the register where other kids checked it out. Our neice Rebekah is the check out lady here, trying to collect the $300 bill from here sister Sarah -- Sarah just ran over to her nanny's purse and pulled out the check book.

Imitation is the greatest form of flattery. It also gives an insight into the practices of her mentor (Nanny). Go figure.

How cute. I think things like this help kids learn, don't you?

Fun story. . . One time my kid wanted something, and I said, "Jason, I don't have any money with me." He said, "Write a check." ;-)

This is a great idea. i do think it helps kids understand about buying things, but my kids would always say just write a check when i said we didn't have the money for whatever they wanted. If ony it was that easy.
Your grandkids are so cute.

I think my kids did that too, but it was a variation: There's the ATM!

These days, they are helping track the miles we bike/walk vs. the miles we drive to run errands this summer. We are trying to maximize one, and minimize the other!

Oh my~~ they watch us all the time, don't they Steve??

We use to play store when I was little all the time. One of our favorite games.

And Lemonade stands where we drank up all our profits.

Thanks for some memories.....
