It went down in smoke
There was a fire down south of New Orleans that was smoldering as the sun went down last night. Add to that a pretty stiff wind blowing in a cold front and you've got an interesting sunset. The sunset enjoyed having a new paintbrush to mix its red and ochre pallet upon.
The commuting traffic was treated to quite and aerial display.

The mud is still flying near Houston. It's the same old guys slinging it. And it kept us rolling in our seats. Today on Pixel Eyed.

quite blinding sky color from the portal :). At first I thought you did something for photoshop. Great shot.
Wonderful picture. It makes N.O. look like the antechamber of Hell. I'm sure a number of preachers have made the same comment about the Big Easy, building fire or not.
Extraordinary shot. The contrast of the blaze and the buildings. Sad the fire...beautiful and photo.
What an incredible photograph. Fabulous.
Awesome photo Steve!!!
Welcome to the hell ;))
Greetings from Wroclaw

A fire? That's not good! Just got back from a great weekend trip to Nola at the beginning of Nov!
What a sight! Beautiful and frightening.
Great effect i assume from your comments you have enhanced the colours. It reminds me of a painting I saw of the Great Fire of London.
Quite a firey display!
Wow! Fantastic photo.
Incredible, awe-inspiring colour capture...
Planet Earth Daily Photo.
After all that the people there have suffered, I would think that a fire that large would be scary for them. Powerful shot.
I am always amazed at how fires make for such gorgeous picture. Wonderful capture, Steve. I just hope it was not too serious.
