Beignets for breakfast

Our son, Charlie is in town this week so we were down in the French Quarter at the Cafe Du Monde for beignets and cafe au lait. Above is the powdery treats for the group. Below, make mine with no sugar. Surprising, they are very tasty that way.

Below is our group. On the right is my wife and me then her sister, Maryanne. Charlie is the one in the white shirt. On the left is our nephew Von.

I have just put on 3 kgs looking at that breakfast - but it does look yummy.

Nice to meet the family - it must be great to be together again.

Looks like a fun group! I will have to try these if I make it back to the Quarter some day.

Oh my! I am going to dream of beignets tonight. I visited your gorgeous city in 2003, and guess where I had breakfast every single day? There should be a Cafe Du Monde in every city/town/village around the world. :)

Ummmmmm....I love the beignets. 2 years ago hubby and I had them at Cafe Du Monde and wore the powdered sugar proudly.

That first batch looks fabulous but like you, I'd probably go for the ones without sugar - well perhaps a little...

Great to meet the family too. Looks like y'all are having a great time.
