Back to the Mandeville Lakefront again this weekend. A little depth of focus magic makes these two wind lovers appear to be sharing secrets. The pelican is sitting on a sign with the boat a good ways past it. In the foreground, the black is the sea wall that protects the harbor. In the background is the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway -- the best it's users can do it push the wind out of the way.

Ah, this is beautiful! Takes me back to my Coast Guard days in Mobile and New Orleans. Thanks for the timely transport. Hope things are returning to normal for all.
I think the pelican is thinking "look at the size of that beak! (windsail). I read your post, and your daughter's post - sounds like it was a scary and sad event, with a happy and "back to normal" ending. I'm glad for that, and know you and your family are very glad, too. Sophie is a cutie.
beautiful composition, Steve.
WOAH!!!!
Magnificient. Great colors, the pelican in silhoutette, the sprkling lake, the little paws on the sail, ... Wonderful. You have agreat eye Steve.
Oh, and Iike what you said about shared secrets between those tow wind lovers. Very poetic.
I love those two paw marks on the sail. That is adorable. The pelican is probably wondering what paw marks have to do with sails.
A very beautiful picture (again here ;-)) using my favorite color!
Looks like a beutiful place to go watch sailboats. I like the sunny reflections on the sea. DOF does good here.
Great shot! But more importantly, I'm glad to hear that your grand-daugther is getting better.
Wonderful photo, and the water just sparkles!
Wonderful how you captured this shot. I like how it's clear on the one side and like a silloutte (spelling?) on the other.
This photo is interesting, how the pelican became a silhouette and the sailboat has such color, juxtaposed like that in the same photo.
