Fishing buddies

Did you get in some fishing this weekend? Bet you had a buddy along. It's always a more pleasant experience with someone to chat with and to share your catches. Even someone to verify that you did catch the big one.

It would seem from the photo above that birds share that comfy feeling. The great egret on the left seems to relish the presence of his smaller friend as they search the waters of the Audubon Park, New Orleans, lagoon. Occasionally, they would wade to a another location for a little variety, but this day, the pickings seemed slim.

I once had the exquisite experience of stumbling upon (in a canoe) an egret rookery in the middle of the Okefenokee Swamp. Thanks Steve for brightening that memory with your beautiful photo.

I really like the composition of this shot with the reflections . Love watching these stately birds move and fish.

I didn't get in any fishing, but my son in law did down by San Diego.....were spending Wednesday with them, and he will cook us up a delicious fish dinner.

The picture is really wonderful.

Yay, Audobon Park! How I miss it. Especially the Christmas lights in December :o)

For some weird reason, when I read your title, I thought of that line from Brokeback Mountain: "We was fishin' buddies!"

My uncle JL and his grown grandson Michael caught 21 fish in their pond, yesterday, down in Puckett, Mississippi.

Love the shot, Steve. We never got out to Audubon this time down in New Orleans, spending all our time in the French Quarter. Loved the food and music.
