Late for class

Flat tire?
Sailing classes were going on out on the lakefront of New Orleans. The class of these small boats all sailed out of the harbor together -- minus a few stragglers with last minute equipment adjustments. This brave sailor heads into the wind to get to the bouy where the class is gathered. In the background is another class of bigger boats -- probably older students.

Further out the rest of the class battles the strong breeze and swelling seas (swelling lakes?)

Great photos! I tried sailing a couple times in a small boat -- quite the adventure and harder than it looks, but it is very peaceful once you have the wind at your back (and your going in the direction you want too!).

Thanks for visiting my NorthBayPhoto blog.

I've only sailed once, in the late '80s near Kansas City, Missouri. It might have been on Lake Jacomo. Anyway, all I had to do was sit there and enjoy myself. I believe these people are brave adventurers. And I love the blue of the water--it reminds me of a Crayola I used to love when I was a kid, Prussian Blue.

You captured the feel of the wind and spray and sailing away the tensions of the day.

Looks great fun Steve, oddly I've never bothered photographing our sailing club when they meet in the harbour. I'd better get around to it!

These are great shots! Look at the color of that water! Love it!
Blue water, white sails, what a good combination, and a splash of red on the lifejackets!!

I want to go sailing.....! (smile)

Nice shots! Were you out there on a sailboat when you took them? It looks like you are very close.

I'm not big on sailing... I've sailed once in San Diego with my siter and her husband... but I was younger and more fearless then. Now I think I would just get seasick!

Thank you for visiting my blog!

Great photo.
I love sailing, I haven't sailed since I was a teenager.

This seems like a lot of fun. Although I'd rather take the sun on the boat than do all the work. ;)
